• Validation of the Korean version of the Burnout Assessment Tool (K-BAT): a preliminary study

The BAT was designed to cover the problematic issues of MBI since it was initially developed for research and not for assessing burnout and to optimize the utility in the practical setting. The present study aimed to validate the newly invented Burnout Assessment Tool into the South Korean sample. The one among 23 items of BAT were excluded based on an exploratory factor analysis using 367 South Korean employees and a four-factor structure of K-BAT (i.e., exhaustion, mental distance, impaired cognitive/emotional control) was supported by a confirmatory factor analysis using a different 345 employees. Consistent with burnout theories, a convergent and a discriminative validity were sustained by correlation analysis with MBI, engagement, demands, resources, and outcomes. Implications and limitations were discussed for further investigations.
